a sketch for my submission of this weeks illustration friday word “roots”

and a quick update on the skull/rose painting. first I did a wash of raw sienna and raw umber creating a monochromatic version of the final. then i laid down a background color with darker areas to add emphasis on certain parts

I was recently turned onto a site called illustration friday. Each week a word is posted and you try and illustrate what that represents to you. This weeks word was “dream.” I’m cutting it really close with my first entry. Next time i’ll get it in a little less under the wire. Enjoy and comment.
